4/2/11: Tufts Invested in Monsanto, leaked document shows

A list of Tufts University investment holdings from 2010 includes ethically suspect companies like Nike, Goldman Sachs, and the infamous Monsanto Corp. We believe Tufts can and should hold itself to higher standards of investment ethics, particularly considering our image as a leader in international affairs and global citizenship.

*this list dates from 2010. Presently, Tufts is not invested directly in these or any companies. This means that instead of individual companies, we invest with one or more diversified investment managers. This fact should not obscure the relevance of this document to the ongoing debates on transparency and investment ethics.

Transparency at Tufts:

In 2007, Tufts students campaigned for the right to information about our endowment which was and remains confidential. A 2007 Observer Article tells part of the story. Download it here (.jpg 1.4Mb). Tell the administration what you think.
